We drive a thousand miles to visit our adult daughter and within five minutes, Mommy is washing dishes. Quite happily.

I can’t get my mother-in-law to stop cleaning when she visits. I wouldn’t mind so much if she didn’t put things away in random places.

My mom, brother and myself went to visit my older sister when my first nephew was born, I’m sipping a beer with my brother in law and just catching up and my mom just starts folding my sister’s laundry like it’s her job. She came over to my apartment a few days ago and brought upside down cake, a case of Coke-Cola, Gatorades, etc. Moms are the best.

It’s the reverse for me, whenever we visit my mom, half the visit is cleaning and fixing her ish.

My grandma was my mom growing up, and this scene from Goodfellas captures her essence pretty well. Constantly trying to feed everyone. I remember picking her up from the airport at around 10pm after a flight back from NJ. We get to her house and she starts cooking. I’m like, Nonni, what are you doing? She responds with, what’s the matter? Sit down and eat.
